Insights / DiagnosticsBy James Penz

Two weeks, one workflow, a build decision.

How the fixed-fee Forge Diagnostic works.

James Penz · Founder

Every ClearForge engagement starts the same way: a Forge Diagnostic, a fixed fee agreed up front, 2 weeks. This article walks through what the two weeks contain and what you hold at the end.

The two weeks

The Forge Diagnostic schedule
WindowWork
Week 1Map the workflow, size the opportunity
Week 2Prove viability, price the build
Day 10 to 14A decision you can price: build, fix, or stop

Week one is spent inside the workflow, putting a number on what the manual steps cost. Week two tests the candidate system against your real data and scopes the Sprint.

It ends with a decision you can price, not a report you file.

What you hold at the end

A build decision with a price on it. If you build, the Forge Sprint is priced in the Diagnostic, before any build, and runs 10 to 14 weeks to a live production system. If the answer is stop, you spent a fixed diagnostic fee to avoid a build that would not have worked. Both outcomes are the product.
